"Voláme Srdcem" was born in our hearts
Since childhood, I grew up with my mom and my older brother Pavel. When I was seven, we moved in with my grandmother, grandfather, and great-grandmother. It was a house full of love, where I was surrounded every day by older people and their life wisdom.
My mom often told me about her own great-grandmother, and how she took care of her when she was bedridden. That time of her life was incredibly important to her. I never met her great-grandmother myself (she had passed away long before I was born), but I know her story through my mom's words. And I know how much love they shared.
I myself helped care for my great-grandmother – my mom's grandmother. I loved her dearly and often went to chat with her. She always smiled at me, lighting up the whole room. I still carry that image inside me. When she got sick, my mom and grandmother devoted themselves completely to her care. I helped however I could. Together we made it through tough days, sleepless nights, and the small daily routines. My great-grandmother needed us, and my mom was her everything.
After her passing, we faced another challenge within half a year – my grandpa, my mom's father, fell ill. I also spent a lot of time talking with him. He was a great role model for me. He showed me what needed to be done around the house, in the garden, in the workshop. He taught me skills and had endless patience with me. And once again, I saw how strong my mom truly was. She handled everything with a huge heart, even though it hurt her deeply. We eventually lost my grandpa too, but my grandmother remained with us, and now we take care of her together.
Just talking
In the meantime, I watched my mom working in a call center. It wasn't her dream job, but it had one big advantage – she could do it from home while still looking after our family. It took a toll on her, both physically and emotionally. She felt joy when she heard gratitude, laughter, and warm memories from seniors on the phone. But I also saw her sadness – knowing how many of those people on the other end of the line were completely alone. For many of them, her call was the first conversation they'd had all week.
I could feel how much it weighed on her heart. And that's when an idea came to me. Not as a business, but as a real, deep need. One day I went to my mom and said:
"What if we just talked to those people? Not selling anything, just listening. Simply being there for them."
Why not really give people an ordinary, human conversation?
Why not create something genuine, that doesn't sell but warms?
Why not help through words that comfort?
And that's how the project "Calling with Heart" was born. Not as a business plan, but as a path continuing the story of our family. A path we've walked ourselves. A path that makes sense.
Helping with hands and words
Calling with Heart is here mainly for seniors, but also for anyone who feels lonely and longs for human connection. Not necessarily helpless – but disconnected from society, from the touch of words, from simple human interest.
And because we wanted the project to have an even deeper meaning, my mom and her friend Andrea – who also has a big heart – came up with the beautiful idea of a sheltered workshop. A place where disadvantaged people could make small items of joy – candles, surprise packages, handmade greeting cards – and send them to lonely seniors as "little hearts in the palm of a hand."
Together they are also creating a foundation, an idea born from conversations between my mom and her other friend, Vlaďka – a woman with open arms for everyone often forgotten, who can sense even what is left unsaid. Together they want to create a space that offers help to those who cannot even afford the simplest pleasures – a kind word, a small gift, or human closeness.
So that help doesn't stay closed in a circle, but flows further. From one heart to another.
These are the people we want to be there for. To offer them a voice that listens. Gifts that bring joy. And most of all – the feeling that someone cares about them.
Our path, our mission
It is love for those who deserve more than silence and emptiness. It is a mission growing directly from the heart.
Calling with Heart is not just a project. It is the story of my mom. And mine. The story of our whole family – and of those who believe with us in the power of kind words.
It is a path we have set out on together – my mom, Vlaďka, Andrea…
And above all – it is our mission.
And we are here for you.
